Welcome

February 7, 1945 - March 7, 2022

It is with our deep sadness that write of the March 7, 2022 passing of our dear friend and colleague, Carrie Trauth, co-founder of The Frost School and The Family Foundation, Inc.

Carrie will always be remembered for her friendship, her leadership, her mentoring, and the many ways in which she contributed to helping children and families

Carrie served in many roles at Frost including being the Clinical Director, the Program Director for the high school, then the middle school, and then the elementary school. She was also the school nurse over the 35 years of her time at Frost.

Additionally, Carrie was one of the leaders and most active members of The Family Foundation and its grant making activities over the past ten years.

We have established The Carrie Trauth Memorial Fund to honor her and to keep her memory alive by focusing on the priorities to which she devoted her life

Donations in Carrie's memory can be made to The Family Foundation, Inc. and earmarked for The Carrie Trauth Memorial Fund. These donations will be used exclusively to support individuals, families, programs in need and other mental health and educational issues that were particularly important to her. Commitment.     Compassion.     Community.

These are the core values of The Family Foundation's 46 years of successfully helping thousands of children, teenagers, and families in need of counseling, education, and a variety of community and mental health services. Our multiple programs and innovative services have been in the forefront of meeting the needs of families and children in times of crisis.

Our signature undertaking -- The Frost School -- was established in 1975 as a self-sustaining, 12-month day program for children and adolescents with severe emotional problems. We combined small, individualized classes with daily group therapy, and required weekly parent and family involvement in our program. We worked as a therapeutic community and were able to help many students return to public school and move on to college or to work.

From our Foundation's founding in 1975,  we gradually expanded our accredited school to serve more than 100 students a year from grades two through 12 in a series of small, family oriented programs. With our merger of The Frost School into Sheppard Pratt Health System in 2004, programs were added to serve students on the autistic spectrum.

Now, The Family Foundation has moved in a new direction, offering consultative services and an expanded grant program for individuals, professionals, and community groups who want to provide unique programs and services to youth and their families.
